Yearly potato cultivation

Yearly potato cultivation constitutes 250 hectares (618 acres). Planting takes place from November 1st until the end of February. Varieties planted includes Sifra, Panamera, Tyson and Sababa.
Harvesting starts mid March and continues through to August.

Sorting and packaging of Belle Rive potatoes takes place in our two modern and highly sophisticated pack houses (Vanaswegenshoek and Smithskraal). We pride ourselves in accurate sorting, precise weighing and quality packaging to ensure we deliver a top quality product.

Potato production is divided into 20% seed potato and 80% ware potatoes. Stringent requirements are set in place in respect of seed production to ensure a sustained supply of healthy planting material. Seed potatoes are marketed through Wesgrow (Pty) Ltd. to the potato industry of South Africa and neighboring countries.

Ware potatoes are sold through various Fresh produce markets across the country and preferred wholesalers. Direct marketing to supermarkets is facilitated through Farmwise (Pty) Ltd.
